On September 20, 2023, a member of the State Commission for the Complete Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression, A.U. Ilyasova, took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Mass Political Repressions in Kazakhstan in the 20-50s. of XXth century and Rehabilitation Processes in Archival Documents and Memories.” The conference was held as part of the scientific program “Mass Political Repressions in Kazakhstan in the 20-50s. of the XXth century and Rehabilitation Processes: Creation of a Unified Database”, implemented by the Institute of History and Ethnology. C.H. Valikhanov of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Project Office to support the activities of the State Commission for the Complete Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression.
Aliya Ukuzhanovna spoke in the section “GULAG Camps on the Territory of Kazakhstan” with a report on the topic: “Individual Camp Points on the Territory of the Karaganda Region.”
This conference was an important generalizing experience of the unprecedented practice of state policy for the rehabilitation of victims of political repression in the Eurasian space.
The State Commission for the Complete Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression created by Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out from 2021 to 2023 comprehensive work to identify historical facts about new categories of victims of repression, carried out work to declassify archival documents previously not available to historians and lawyers, and organized their qualitative comparative analysis.
