Student initiative for psychological research at the “Personality +” club

A sunny March thaw contributed to the warmth with which our participants and guests met at the meeting of the psychological club “Personality Plus”.

The President Dilnaza Nazarova welcomed everyone who is interested not only in learning new things, but also in wondering what is significant in his life and future profession: these are 2nd, 3rd, 4th year students of OP PiP, 2nd year distance learning students, undergraduates, professors G. Talikova, A. Esmagulova, A. Tazhinin, E. Holomazova, as well as Vice Rector for Science G. Kadyrova.

A constant focus of our club is creative search, independence and freedom of scientific thinking.

That is why the topic “Research initiative of students and undergraduates: results of their theoretical and experimental works” aroused genuine interest.

Psychological breakdown of adolescence, instability of moral positions, impulsiveness, suggestibility, absence of comprehensive assessment of life circumstances – this behavioural basis of the period of juvenile age was taken into consideration by Dilnaz Nazarova in her analytical reflection on theories and hypotheses of adolescence.

Gender identity, system of value priorities, ingrowth into culture, building a life programme – these acute and extraordinary aspects of adolescence were analysed by Dilnaza with conviction and scientific passion, showing freedom of thought and the ability to defend her scientific position in discussion.

A different, experimental aspect of his research was demonstrated by Baurzhan-Zhienbaev, not only a second-year distance learning student, but also a colonel and the head of the military department at the Medical University. He emphasized that, for him as a teacher, it is important to realize that students, future physicians, should possess not only medical knowledge and general systemic ideas, but also those emotional-volitional qualities that they will display in an extreme and, possibly, military situation.

Therefore, his professional and scientific interests determined the topic of his experimental study related to the psychological support of students’ training at the military department of a medical university under the Reserve Officers’ Training Program.

Baurzhan experimentally investigated the vectors of emotional stability as indicators of students’ activity in extreme situations and proved that nervous mental stability, personal and situational anxiety, the volitional manifestations of personality of students are interrelated and the risk group identified by the study requires optimization of psychological support in teaching students emotional-volitional regulation of their own behavior in extreme situations.

Baurzhan sincerely shared that the work on this research opened for him the possibility to see his professional activity from another, new and very important psychological position.

Passionately and brightly demonstrated his treatment of the problem of self-consciousness as teenagers’ comprehension of their individuality, uniqueness and uniqueness by the 3rd year student Karina Perepechkina.

By engaging in a complex analysis of adolescents’ process of acquiring self-esteem, reflexivity, withdrawal into a “fantasy world”, real and ideal representations of themselves, Karina in her theoretical study proves that the adolescent experiences his or her own goals and beliefs as personally significant and determining the orientation and meaningfulness of his or her life.

A subtle and in-depth analysis of the problem of adolescent self-awareness has acted as an indicator of a new facet of Karina’s personality as a researcher with an independent and interesting stance.

Graduate Madina Sapargalieva focused her attention on the study of topical problem of professional self-determination of first-year students of polytechnic college. She experimentally proved the interrelation of dominant “proper models”, students’ reflexive abilities with their professional choice (“protection in emergency situations”, “programming”, “fire safety”). As a researcher, Madina showed that not all first-year students find life spheres such as training and education and future professional activity significant. The author believes that the identified risk group should be included in the zone of immediate professional development to actualize the inner meaning-making motif of professional choice.

Demonstrating a deep knowledge of the researcher and her competent ability to interpret a large amount of empirical data, Madina showed a high level of involvement in the future professional activity of a psychologist.

In general, the initiatives in the research of actual psychological problems opened the students the possibility of personal and scientific flight, the feeling of their own scientific significance, the manifestation of their own “self”.
