At the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, 2020 will be the Year of Volunteer in Kazakhstan. In his speech at the closing of the Year of Youth, the head of state said that it is wrong to perceive volunteering only as one-time Saturday clean-ups and environmental activities-challenges.
“It is commonly believed that volunteering is a movement that originated in the West, and has nothing to do with us. But we all know that the very essence of volunteerism – to do something out of good intentions – corresponds to our national traditions and values. Volunteering is not just free work, but an indicator of citizens’ responsibility and willingness to change the world for the better,” said President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his speech.
In this regard, the Committee on Youth Affairs organized an annual, traditional Sport contest in four sports for Bolashaq Academy’s students living in the House. More than 50 students competed in such sports as armwrestling, tug-of-war, lifting weights with one hand and darts. Tests are the most difficult.
On January 30, the best athletes, winners of the Sport contest, were determined.
