Participation in the X International Scientific and Practical Historical Conference “History. Memory. People”

On September 23, 2020 the X International Scientific and Practical Historical Conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War and the 25th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan was held on the Zoom platform in online format. This conference has been held since 2002 with a two-year periodicity, with the participation of scientists from Central Asia, Belarus, Israel, Canada, Latvia, Russia, USA, Ukraine and other countries. The organizers of the conference were the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Jewish Congress and the Mitsva Association.

Director of “Rukhaniyat” Center took part in the conference. Academy “Bolashaq” Aupenova A.U., who in co-authorship with researcher Omarova A.S. conducted research on the topic: “A brief review of production activities of 517 plants” in the direction of the conference “Evacuation and refugees during the Second World War (1939-1945) in Kazakhstan, other countries of Central Asia and Western Siberia (the fate of refugees, evacuated people, industrial facilities, cultural institutions).

In October 1941, when Hitler’s troops were circling Moscow from the north, the State Defense Committee decided to evacuate the factories for the future successful functioning of the military economy. According to the government’s decision of 03.10.1941, the Kolchugino Non-Ferrous Rolled Products Plant named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze with all equipment and personnel was fully evacuated to five cities of the Urals and Kazakhstan.

Rolling Shop No. 4 and 622 people arrived in the city of Balkhash of the Kazakh SSR to the site of Balkhash Copper Smelting Plant, where the plant No. 517 was established. Production space for the evacuated equipment was provided by the Balkhash Copper Smelting Plant. Thus, the military plant No. 517, which was necessary for the defense industry, was put into operation. Later on, a non-ferrous metal processing plant (NFM) was established on the basis of this plant, which is still in operation today.

At the 10th anniversary conference in the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented a collection of documents “declassified war:” special folders “CC CP (b) of Kazakhstan. 1941 – 1945” by the Director of the Archive D.Y. Abdykadyrova, Director of the Valikhanov Ch. Valikhanov Institute of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Science, Professor Z.E. Kabuldinov and Chief Researcher of the Institute, Associate Professor K.S. Aldazhumanov.

Chief Researcher of the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov K.S. Aldajumanov, told about the work done in the national and Russian archives to study the contribution of Kazakhstan in the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
