The successful solution to the issue of employment of university graduates is continuously linked to their acquiring practical work skills during their studies. Therefore, the combination of theoretical training with practical training is a prerequisite for improving the quality of specialists’ training.
Pre-diploma practice of students is the final part of the educational process and is aimed at consolidating and deepening the knowledge and skills acquired by students in the course of their previous studies, as well as mastering the system of professional skills and experience of professional activity in the profession they receive.
On 20 November 2020, the Department of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication held a pre-degree orientation conference on the Zoom platform.
In accordance with the Academic Policy of the University and the academic calendar for the academic year 2020-2021, students of the part-time reduced form of education of the educational programme 6B01702 “Foreign language: two foreign languages” are sent for pre-degree practice during the period from 23 November to 4 December 2020. The duration of the internship corresponds to the number of credits on the plan and is 2 weeks.
Pre-diploma practice is aimed at consolidating theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge; testing the professional readiness of a bachelor for self-employment; deepening practical experience of a student, development of general and professional competencies, preparation for graduation qualification work.
The installation conference was held by the head of practice, senior teacher of the department Rahimbaeva Bayan Turabekovna. The conference was attended by students of ZIN-18-1k,3k groups. Among those invited there were scientific supervisors of diploma works of students (group supervisors of practice), teachers of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication Department A.N. During the conference, students were introduced to the tasks and programme of practice. All necessary documents on the organisation of internships and methodological recommendations for supervising teachers and students were provided.
Prior to the start of the internship, an order was issued to send students for internships and group managers from the department were appointed. There was also a presentation to the order with the data of students who were sent to the basic educational institutions, where they get the opportunity to study materials related to the topic of graduation work: KSU “Karaganda Regional Universal Scientific Library named after N.V. Gogol” and KSU “Gymnasium № 45” in Karaganda. Group managers of the practice were appointed scientific managers of the students’ graduation works.
Completion of the pre-degree internship involves two stages: the first – planning and implementation of research activities, the second – processing and analysis of the information received and preparation of the graduation qualification work for pre-defense. The programme does not provide for a final conference at the end of the pre-degree internship.
As a result of the internship, trainees undergo an intermediate evaluation in the form of a differential credit, conducted by group managers. The assessment of the level of competence is determined based on the completeness of the theoretical part of the work and the reliability of the practical results of the study. The assessment procedure is based on the results of the bachelor’s final qualification work.
