On March 13, 2023, a conference “Prospects for the development of biomedical and genetic research in Kazakhstan” was held in Astana on the basis of the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine together with the Institute of Genetics and Physiology with the assistance of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference was attended by representatives of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the direction of “Healthcare”. The head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Disciplines, D.K. Pakhomova, took part in the conference from the Bolashaq Academy.
The welcoming speech was presented to the Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education K.A. Yergaliev. Then the opening speech was delivered by the Vice-President for Medicine – Dean of the School of Medicine Massimo Pignatelli.
Presentations were made by representatives of the Institute of Genetics and Physiology of the KN of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Center of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, the Almaty branch of the National Center of Biotechnology, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
After lunch, the participants were presented with a tour of the laboratories and the simulation center. After that, the issues raised in the reports were discussed at breakout sessions.
After the discussion sessions, all participants were given a tour of the main campus of Nazarbayev University and “National Laboratory Astana”.
