“Lessons of the “tragic January”: the unity of society is a guarantee of independence”, this was the title of the speech of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev at the plenary session of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In this regard, the President noted that for the first time in the history of independence we faced a very difficult and dangerous period in the development of our state. We faced the brutal violent actions of terrorists who tried to undermine the constitutional order and carry out a coup d’etat.
Fortunately, we overcame that test!
Now we must never allow something like that to happen.
Therefore, the analysis of the causes of the terrible tragedy, which our country has faced, and a clear assessment of its consequences is a very important task that we all face.
The President has set a number of specific tasks before the new Government in the political and socio-economic spheres, as well as in matters of national security and defence.
The set of tasks facing the new Government of Kazakhstan boils down to the following:
Elimination of the consequences, analysis and investigation of the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of unlawful acts;
cardinal reorganization of the entire system of national security;
adjustments in the reform of the law enforcement system;
to quantitatively and qualitatively strengthen the National Guard;
Increase the legal protection of police officers;
To dramatically increase the combat effectiveness of the army;
revise the principles of organization and management of the Border Guard Service;
completely overhaul the intelligence community, including foreign, military, criminal and financial intelligence;
to ensure effective coordination between the various security agencies;
To ensure the independence of power structures in decision-making, to increase the level of responsibility of their leaders;
To implement a set of systematic measures on countering religious extremism;
to restructure the activities of the CDB;
to revise the procurement procedures of Samruk-Kazyna and other national companies;
to take measures to stop the recycling fee and the disposal of the recycling fee LLP “Operator ROP”.
This should be handled by a state organization, as in foreign countries.

As stated in the official statement, the President said: “I believe that the solidarity of the people, a sincere belief in the ideas of sovereign development and independence of Kazakhstan are a powerful foundation for the consolidation of society and the progress of our country. Together we will overcome all difficulties. Together we will build a new Kazakhstan!”.
The Head of State held bilateral talks with the President of the European Council Charles Michel at the initiative of the European side, during which the sides discussed the current internal political situation in Kazakhstan and the prospects for the development of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
The President stressed Kazakhstan’s commitment to comply with all its international obligations and confirmed his intention to further develop cooperation with the institutions of the European Union and its Member States.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached to maintain regular contacts at the level of foreign policy structures. From the European side, the parties expressed confidence not only to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, but also, as the President of the European Council said, “We are ready to continue to strengthen cooperation with Kazakhstan!

Such a meeting is evidence of the understanding and support for the actions of our President on the part of the international community.
Dear colleagues!
I am sure that the solidarity of the people, a sincere belief in the ideas of the sovereign development and independence of Kazakhstan are a strong foundation for the consolidation of society and the progress of our country.
Our strength is in our unity! Together we will overcome all difficulties.
