The faculty members of the Department of Pharmaceutical Disciplines participated in the VIII Republican Conference with the involvement of international experts titled “Community of Mercy: 10 Years of the Kazakhstani Association of Palliative Care.” The conference took place on December 19-20, 2023, in Almaty (online).

A video clip showcasing the history of palliative care in Kazakhstan was presented. Following that, welcoming remarks were delivered by Catherine Pettus (online) from Chinchon, Spain, Sofia Michaelson (online) from Miami, USA, Iran Shametekov from Almaty, Kazakhstan, Lyazat Aktaeva from Konayev, Kazakhstan, and Banu Nurgaziyeva from Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
Several presentations were given, including “Community of Mercy – Together for Palliative Care” by Steven Connor (online) from Washington, USA, and “Current Situation in the Development of Palliative Care in the European Region” by Julie Ling (online) from Dublin, Republic of Ireland.
The conference sessions delved into clinical, socio-psychological, and communicative aspects of palliative care, as well as issues related to education and organization.
The event concluded with a solemn ceremony honoring and awarding champions of palliative care.
