On October 17, 2024, the Department of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication held a round table on the topic “Society against Corruption in the Republic of Kazakhstan”. The event was held as part of the educational work of the department and is aimed at developing students’ awareness of the importance of fighting corruption in Kazakhstan and forming an active civic position.
The round table was opened by Senior advisor of the department Abdresheva Madina Kabbasovna, who noted the relevance of the topic and the importance of youth participation in anti-corruption activities. Madina Kabbasovna presented statistics and facts about corruption in Kazakhstan, discussing its impact on the economic and social development of the country. The key aspects of corruption practices and their consequences for society were identified. The students gave examples of well-known corruption scandals in Kazakhstan, analyzed the causes of their occurrence and consequences. The discussion allowed the participants to better understand the scale of the problem and the importance of solving it.
The participants of the round table discussed various approaches to combating corruption, including legislative changes, increasing the transparency of government agencies and the active involvement of citizens in the control process. Ideas on the development of anti-corruption education were proposed. Special attention was paid to how young people can participate in anti-corruption activities. The students offered ideas on holding social events, creating volunteer groups and using social media to raise awareness of corruption risks.
At the end of the round table, M.K. Abdresheva thanked the participants for their active participation and stressed the importance of joint efforts in the fight against corruption. The students expressed their desire to continue working in this direction and organize additional events to raise awareness of corruption issues.
The round table has become an important platform for discussing current problems of corruption in Kazakhstan and forming an active civic position among students.
