Eternal glory to the heroes: Nurzhanov Kazbek Beisenovich

Nurzhanov Kazbek Beisenovich – intelligence platoon commander of the 61st Separate Anti-Tank Fighter Division (5th Oryol Rifle Division, 40th Rifle Corps, 3rd Army, 2nd Belorussian Front), senior sergeant.

He was born in 1919 in Aktogay village of Aktogay region, nowadays Karaganda region. Kazakh. Since 1939, in the ranks of the Red Army.

Since April 1942 takes part in the Great Patriotic War. He fought on the Volga River, near Orel, forced the river Zush, Desna, Sozh, Dnieper, Druti, Berezina. His battle path is paved with heroism and glory. In the battles near Zolotarev, Kazbek Nurzhanov, commander of the armoured personnel department, set a Nazi tank on fire with an anti-tank rifle, and his department destroyed three enemy vehicles.

Having appreciated the fearlessness and wit of Staff Sergeant Nurzhanov, the division command instructed him to lead a platoon of scouts. When forcing the river Druti in the area of mark 149.7 under enemy fire, they scouted and gave valuable information, which soon helped to repel tank attacks. In the area of the Pervomaysky state farm Nurzhanov and his platoon entered the rear of the Hitlerites, cutting off their escape route. In this battle he personally destroyed eight Hitlerites, and the soldiers of his platoon took 97 fascists led by the captain as prisoners. For his military services Kazbek Nurzhanov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner and Glory of the III degree, the Medal “For Courage”.

In the battles to take the city of Volkovysk a warrior from Kazakhstan led a group of capture, acting on the flank. Determined actions of the group sowed panic in the camp of the enemy. The Hitlerites fled, dropping combat equipment and weapons. In pursuit of the enemy, Kazbek Nurzhanov captured three fascists, including an officer. Despising death, he broke into Volkovysk, dragging the incoming infantry with him. In this battle, Kazbek Nurzhanov was mortally wounded.

For courage and heroism, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Decree of March 24, 1945 posthumously awarded Kazbek Nurzhanov the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
