As part of the implementation of the image events of the Bolashaq Academy’s Department of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication, a significant meeting with representatives of the international community took place on May 2, 2025. Senior teachers of the department, M.M. Mombekova and A.V. Te, organized an interactive meeting with a graduate of the prestigious Fulbright — Emmett Cashman American academic mobility program, as well as with the coordinator of American Corner Karaganda, Koishybayeva Arail. The event was held at the site of the Bolashaq Academy Scientific Library and became part of a set of events aimed at developing students’ intercultural communication skills and improving language competence.
The Fulbright Program is one of the most respected international academic initiatives, providing students and faculty from around the world with a unique opportunity to study and research at universities in the United States. During the meeting, the guest shared his personal experience of participating in the program, highlighted the application stages, selection criteria, and academic opportunities available to participants. Special attention was paid to the importance of academic mobility as a tool for developing global thinking and professional identity of future specialists.
The American Corner coordinator, in turn, spoke about the activities of the cultural and educational center in Karaganda, opportunities for cooperation and projects available to young people interested in learning English, US culture and developing leadership skills.
The conversation took place in the format of a live dialogue. The students actively asked questions about the American way of life, cultural values, the education system, national traditions, and the specifics of everyday communication. During the communication, topics directly related to the formation of intercultural sensitivity, the ability to empathize with listening, as well as tolerance for cultural diversity were touched upon — the most important components of the professional training of linguistic educators in a globalizing world.
This event has become not only a practical platform for improving English, but also an important step in the formation of students of Bolashaq Academy’s sustainable motivation to participate in international educational programs, expand their personal and academic horizons, as well as develop flexible skills that are in demand in modern multicultural society.
