02.05. 2020 at 10:00 a.m. the next online session within the framework of the international project AE MOOC Facilitators” Sessions Project took place, where staff and students of PU “Academy “Bolashaq”, teachers of Buketov Karaganda University, as well as teachers of schools of Karaganda city and Karaganda region take part. The project is unique in that it unites all its participants, giving an opportunity to discuss global problems on an equal basis with all, and also to try itself in a role of the trainer.
The Saturday session was prepared and held with the active participation of the student of the group IN-17-2 of the Chair of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication, Budikova Zhansaya (1st part), as well as Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology, Buketov Karaganda State University, Kovalenko Olga.
At first, participants discussed the role of emotions in science and research. This topic provoked an active discussion, and building the session on the Canva platform with the help of such tools as Quizlet, LearningApps, Genial.ly, focused the participants on strategies of critical thinking (anticipating the meaning and content by keywords, defining the main idea).
Then, one of the project participants, Olga Kovalenko, presented a project within the framework of sustainable development dedicated to the correct organization of waste recycling based on the personal experience of KSU teachers.
The session was attended by John Silver, Head of the Regional Office of English Language Programs at the U.S. Embassy in Astana, which covers five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan; and Ben Taylor, English Language Programs Coordinator.
The session was fruitful and exciting.
