December 28, 2019 – the Day of National Mourning for the loss of life in the passenger plane crash, the President declared December 28 the Day of National Mourning.

State flags were lowered throughout the country and entertainment events were cancelled.

On this hard day of mourning for the whole country since the plane crash of Almaty – Nur-Sultan flight on 27.12.2019, the faculty, staff, students of “Bolashaq” Academy are together with the families of the victims, together with those who survived through countless suffering.

In these mournful days for all the people, we wish the victims a speedy recovery.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We mourn the loss. Our hearts go out to those affected by the tragedy. We support you.

“President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared 28 December 2019 the Day of National Mourning for the loss of life in a passenger plane crash near Almaty,” Berik Uali, spokesman for the President wrote in social media. According to MIA, the plane carried a total of 5 crew members and 93 passengers, including foreign nationals: two Ukrainian citizens, one from Kyrgyzstan, one from China and the rest from Kazakhstan. “In total, as of 12:30, 12 people were killed, including the crew commander. A total of 49 people have been hospitalised in various medical facilities in Almaty, 18 of whom are in serious condition and the rest are receiving medical and psychological care,” MIA stated.
