Another meeting of the Philology Island Circle was dedicated to the theme “There are different kinds of philologists!”, discussing unusual areas of work for linguists. Who is a linguist? Can a philologist work in television? What does a content manager do? What is a speech portrait and why can blogger Yury Dud become a subject of scientific research?
Traditional linguistic excavations of a fiction text (Chekhov’s story ‘The Wicked Boy’) were also conducted. Critical reading skills enable young researchers to fully appreciate the author’s language play and stylistic devices.
We thank our participants for the pleasant conversation, new ideas and a great mood!
This club has a scientific and cognitive orientation, encourages young people to read, to love words and to discover the world of scientific research!
