On April 24, 2020 the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Science and Education in the Modern World” dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great thinker, philosopher, enlightener, Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev was held in the Academy “Bolashaq”.
Unexpected for the organizers was a sudden emergency power outage from 9.30 to 13.15 hours. Almost all plenary session in the main and administrative building of the university and nearby houses were out of light. But despite these unforeseen circumstances, the conference was held and all invited foreign speakers spoke at the appointed time.
During the conference, a dialogue platform was created to discuss the role and place of Abai in world culture, to preserve and promote the spiritual heritage, wisdom of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev, and to increase interest in the works of the great Kazakh poet. Attention was also paid to topical issues in the legal, economic and sociocultural spheres.

The conference had eight sections in the following areas:
- Abai and modern world civilization.
- The heritage of Abai in the world spiritual space.
- Education and upbringing based on Abai’s world view.
- Pedagogical views of great thinkers.
- Traditional and new in education: preservation of historical and cultural heritage in a multilingual environment.
- Development of financial system in modern economy.
- Modernization of the legal system of the Republic of Kazakhstan: problems of theory and practice.
- Modern aspects of biology, medicine and pharmacy.
Two hundred and eighteen reports were submitted to the organizing committee of the conference, the materials of which are published in two volumes.
