March 3, 2020, Youth Association 1%, Leon Battista readers club, Council of Young Scientists and Rukhaniyat Research Center held a dialogue platform from a series of local history meetings with a representative of the editorial board of the encyclopedia “Karaganda. Karaganda region” by candidate of philological sciences, associate professor A.Yu. Samokhin, a native of Karaganda, who knows his roots.
Andrey Samokhin shared with the readers how the encyclopedia was created, editorial changes were made during two years, starting from 2006. He answered questions about the principles of selection of material, both factual and biographical.
This encyclopedia, dedicated to Karaganda and Karaganda region, contains various information on regional history, geography, economy, culture, demography, folklore; presents the past and current situation of the region; includes biographical data about people whose life and activities were connected with the region.
This meeting interested the participants and encouraged them to consciously explore their native land.
