On October 28, 2024, as part of the image events of the Department of “Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication” and the work of the scientific club “Young Researcher” under the guidance of M.P.N., senior lecturer Mombekova Meruert Maratovna, students of groups IN-21-1,2 and IN-23-1,2 visited the Karaganda Regional Universal Scientific Library named after N.V. Gogol.
The library staff conducted a detailed tour, familiarizing students with the main departments. In the information and bibliographic department, students studied the methods of searching for scientific information on the library’s website (https://karlib.kz/ru/), including searching for articles and monographs by keywords and ordering books. In the Department of Literature and Art, students got acquainted with various genres and types of art.
The subscription department explained to them how to use a library card and showed them books of various genres and scientific fields. The Local history department offered access to literature on the study of the native land and archaeological finds. The International Books Department provides an opportunity to find literature in foreign languages.
The library also offers students participation in various clubs, including an English and Kazakh speaking club, a poetry club, and needlework and drawing clubs.
In general, students gained valuable skills in working with scientific literature, learned how to search for electronic materials (articles, monographs, dissertations, etc.) in the library’s electronic catalog, as well as analyze various sources of information necessary for writing scientific papers. Of particular interest was the Spoken English club, where students can practice their skills with native speakers.
