On May 29th, the Department of General Education Disciplines at the “Bolashaq” Academy, together with the students, organized a thematic meeting dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.
We remembered the fates of those individuals who were unjustly convicted and endured unimaginable violence, experiencing the heavy oppression of the Soviet state’s repressive machine from 1931 to 1959.
The event, which took place in Auditorium No. 316, was led by Senior Lecturer of the Department of General Education Disciplines, Stanislav Yuryevich Smirnov, and a student from the Department of Foreign Languages of the “Bolashaq” Academy, Ekaterina Shitova.
The goal was to immerse participants in the issues surrounding the historical event: its facts, names, and the historical logic that led to tragic consequences.
During the meeting, we recalled the history, monuments, and everything related to the cultural and historical heritage of Karlag. We watched a documentary film, looked at photographs, listened to the memories of witnesses from those years, and shared stories of our relatives who experienced totalitarianism and state terror against the citizens of their country.
We did this in the name of everyone remembering, and therefore, to prevent it from happening again!
