Meeting with representatives of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Karaganda region

On October 8, 2024, a meeting was held at the Bolashaq Academy with representatives of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Karaganda region – an information and explanatory group consisting of: psychologist Gulnara Bakenovna Dalabayeva and theologians Ergaza Azamat Sailauuly and Yahia Aisha Zholamankyzy.

Students were invited to the event to discuss topical issues related to religious aspects in modern society.

The main purpose of the meeting was to increase the level of religious literacy among young people, as well as to discuss issues related to tolerance, interfaith interaction and the prevention of religious extremism. Representatives of the Department of Religious Affairs spoke in detail about the legislative framework governing religious issues in Kazakhstan, as well as how the state works to ensure freedom of religion, maintaining a balance between different faiths.

Special attention was paid to the problems associated with radicalization and extremist movements that can negatively affect young people. Representatives of the ministry gave examples of successful work to prevent religious extremism in the region and spoke about the importance of critical thinking and a competent approach to religious teachings.

Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions on topics of interest to them, including questions about personal freedom of religion, interfaith interaction, the role of religion in modern society, as well as measures to protect against religious manipulation. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of open dialogue that promotes religious literacy and respect for cultural and religious diversity.

The event ended with an appeal to young people to maintain tolerance, show respect for various religious views and strive to preserve peaceful interfaith relations in the country, which is an important factor in strengthening social unity in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
