In order to increase the legal literacy of young people, familiarize them with the election process, as well as to involve students in civic activities and the electoral process on World Election Day on February 6, 2025, at Bolashaq Academy, a member of the Karaganda Regional Election Commission, Esmaganbetov Sayan Amantayevich, gave a lecture in the presentation format on the topic: “Evolution and modern trends in the development of the electoral system and the electoral process of the Republic of Kazakhstan” within the framework of the discipline Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It should be noted that such events are important for students to form an informed position regarding participation in elections and their role in democratic processes.

Purpose of the lecture:

Improving the legal culture of students is an explanation of the importance of participation in elections, the rights and duties of citizens in the electoral process.
Discussion of the principles of the electoral process – a member of the election commission can talk about how elections are organized, how important it is to observe legality and transparency at all stages.
Informing about current and future elections – explaining the specifics of the upcoming elections, including on local and national issues, voting procedures and vote counting.
The issues of constitutional and legal regulation of the electoral process were discussed. Answering students’ questions is a discussion of current issues and doubts, such as opportunities for young people to participate in elections, how to become an observer or candidate, and how to act in case of election violations.

The following topics for discussion are considered:

  • Candidate registration process: what are the requirements for election candidates?
  • The role of election commissions: how election commissions work, their functions and powers.
  • Voting and vote counting procedure: how to ensure the integrity of elections, what observers are and how they help to comply with the rule of law.
  • The importance of elections in a democratic society: why it is important to vote and participate in the electoral process.

It can be stated that the lesson is of great importance for students and teachers due to the importance of the role of elections in public life. It allows you to understand your rights and responsibilities in the electoral process. Get practical information on how to act within the framework of elections and how they can participate in the political processes of their country.

Such events also contribute to the development of civic responsibility among young people, which plays an important role in strengthening democratic values and the rule of law.

Taking advantage of the situation, I would like to thank the speaker of this event, Sayan Amantaevich Esmaganbetov, a member of the Karaganda Regional Election Commission, the former dean of the Faculty of Law of our university, for not forgetting about the academy, the students and our colleagues.
