World boxing stars Serik Sapiev and Gennady Golovkin, hockey player Konstantin Barulin, public figure of the Chechen Republic Akhmat Kadyrov were born and lived here. And also great people studied in the Karaganda region – the first cosmonaut of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokhtar Aubakirov, the pride of sports Gennady Golovkin, Serik Sapiev.
