#Without pathos

The “Talent Show” campaign will be held soon at the Bolashaq Academy, where we are looking for talented and enthusiastic students, but before that, let’s turn to the #BezPathos section, where we get to know unusual people who, despite the fact that they are students, find free time to be a little different than ourselves.

So, get acquainted, today we will talk and share our thoughts with George Selivanov, a student of the Pharmacy department. And now a little bit about him…

How did you become a musician or how did your original creative path begin?

  • To begin with, I graduated from music school, piano class. I studied for 7 years, graduated and thought that I would never play musical instruments again. But then, about a couple of months later, a guitar teacher began to come to my brother, his name was Ruslan. I was offered a try, and after a while I realized that I really like it. After about a year of classes, Ruslan left for another city and then I began to improve my game myself. He left, but he taught me everything a beginner guitarist needs to know.

George, tell me, what was the most difficult thing for you at first?

  • – If we talk about the guitar, the difficulties do not end so far. Every new technique, every new chord. Sometimes it seems that you don’t really know how to play. As for the very first difficulties, I can say for sure, it was the bar chords. Not like I couldn’t figure out how to do them. Only then did I realize that you don’t need to clamp all six strings with one finger, well, that’s for starters. I tried to clamp four strings, after I achieved a confident sound, I tried to play five strings, and after that you can clamp all six without any problems.

When you play the guitar, what thoughts do you put into your playing?

– It’s a little confusing, but it’s different every time. At first, I sit on the ocean shore with my feet immersed in warm sand, and sometimes I suddenly feel rebellious, as if I were a child. All these thoughts are saturated with positivity and some kind of fun.

What are your creative plans?

  • – As for creative plans: I’m thinking of putting together a band and playing songs of my own composition. Yes, I really want to write songs and perform them. And if my music is, let’s say, not bad, then my lyrics are a little worse. (Smiles) So on my creative path, I would have to find a person who can write beautiful lyrics.

And if you find him, you will cooperate with him, right? Do you want to work in tandem?

  • – If you look objectively, people who are engaged in the same activity achieve a synergistic effect. The main thing is that the goals match. And if we take into account that this person is very valuable to me, then, of course, I would like to cooperate with him.

Do you have any idols, and if so, who are they and why did you choose them?

  • I can’t name specific people, but I can give examples of favorite bands. The Starting Line, Neck Deep, State Champs, The Story So Far, and many more. All of them are united by the fact that they play in the genres of pop punk and pop rock, which exude fun and positivity.
  • But there are times when you don’t hit the key and you want more lyrics. Are there moments of recession and when you are attacked by an autumn splinter? What are you playing at such moments?
  • – Of course, there are times when you want a little silence and a calmer sound. At such moments, I hardly change anything in the game. The only thing I need is to change the chord sequence a little bit, and you’ll be surprised how changing those very chords will make the melody calmer. If you know any songs, then in front, you can play them, if you know any technically complex beautiful works, play them. Adjust the sound of your music institute, so to speak, to your own wavelength, because the main thing is to enjoy the game.

What advice can you give to aspiring musicians who are mastering the guitar?

  • I can advise novice guitarists to start playing in the genre they like best. Learn the basic chips, musical moves, techniques, etc. Every time you get a similar sound, it will please you, and perhaps after some time, you will improve your playing technique to such an extent that you can play almost anything.

And the last question: what is the most important thing for you personally in music?

  • For me, the main thing in music is probably rhythm, dynamics and melody. Music is like a window into another world, almost the same as reading a book. Put on your headphones, turn on the music louder and lo and behold, your imagination takes you to the west coast, where the sun is always summer, well, for example.

Thank you, George!

George was pleased to share his personal photos, which we will share with you, our dear readers.

And in conclusion: we would like to wish George further creative breakthroughs and stunning success, both in his studies and in music!
