“The Young Teacher” competition in the framework of career guidance

The Department of Pedagogy of the Bolashaq Academy organized the “Young Teacher” competition among 11th grade students of schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of the Karaganda region and the city as part of career guidance work.

The purpose of the competition is to identify students’ predisposition to teaching, develop critical thinking, provide an opportunity to express their views on the future profession, as well as support talented participants.

Objectives of the competition:

promotion of professional self-determination of graduates and assistance in choosing a future profession;
increasing the importance of teacher education and the prestige of pedagogical specialties;
identification and support of talented youth in research and professional activities.
The competition was held in an online format and included two stages.:

The first stage was a media exhibition, in which the participants freely presented themselves.
The second stage is the creation of a mental map on the topic “Map of teaching professions” and the preparation of a short presentation. At this stage, the participants explained the key points of their mental map in a video or slideshow format.
The competition received applications from schoolchildren from Karaganda and the Karaganda region. The winners were determined by a competition committee consisting of leading teachers of the Department of Pedagogy at Bolashaq Academy with academic degrees, as well as experienced specialists in the education system.

The prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place – grant for free tuition in the first year:

Ekaterina Krom (Tokarevskaya Basic School (Resource Center), Gabiden Mustafin settlement, Bukhar-Zhyrau district).
🥈 2nd place – 50% discount on first-year education:

Akylbayeva Akmaral (A. Mekekov Lyceum school No. 103, Karaganda);
Boryushkina Victoria (Kayyp Shaimenov secondary school, Shakhter village, Nurinsky district).
3 3rd place – 25% discount on tuition fees for the first year:

Shabaz Anel (secondary school No. 23, Tatan village, Karkaralinsky district);
Sabrina Aliyeva (Secondary school No. 86, Karaganda).
All participants of the competition received certificates.

The competition gave students the opportunity to express their opinions about their future profession and show their creative potential. In addition, it allowed to identify talented and promising students, and also contributed to the popularization of the teaching profession among young people. The results of the competition are an important step in the professional orientation of schoolchildren and the development of the field of teacher education.
