On December 12, a meeting with employees of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Karaganda Region was held at the Academy with the direct support of the Student Self-Government Active Members of the KDM Academy. The speaker was the Deputy Head of the Operational Department of the DER for the Karaganda Region, Lieutenant Colonel D.K. Aubakirov.
The lecture was attended by final-year students who had the opportunity to become familiar with current issues regarding employment at the Financial Monitoring Agency.
The audience was informed that, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 28, 2021, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring was created, directly reporting to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The establishment of this Agency was due to the need to increase the efficiency of financial intelligence and strengthen work in the fight against the shadow economy. The mission of the Agency is – “Ensuring the stability of financial and economic systems.” The Economic Investigation Service is an operational and investigative unit of financial monitoring bodies that carries out activities to prevent, detect, suppress, disclose and investigate crimes and offenses in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Within its competence, the Service combats the following types of crimes, in particular: organizing illegal gambling business (ludomania); manufacturing, storing and selling counterfeit money or securities; organizing a false enterprise; embezzlement of budget funds; issuing fictitious invoices; creating and managing financial pyramids; smuggling of narcotics; crimes in the field of information technology; illegal circulation of petroleum products; illegal activities of mining companies; the effectiveness of the use of stabilization funds and other economic crimes.
The lecture was aimed at improving financial literacy, developing students’ professional competencies and preparing them for real challenges in their future professional activities.
The agency presented examples from its practice to the participants and answered questions from the audience, active interest and discussion.
