On September 26, 2024, under the guidance of M.P.N., senior lecturer at the Department of IIMC Mombekova Meruert Maratovna, members of the scientific club “Young Researcher” took part in a webinar from Willey Research Academy on the topic “Overcome the impostor syndrome and publish in the best scientific journals.”
The seminar allowed the participants of the science club to expand their knowledge and get acquainted with the key skills for successful publication in international scientific journals, such as:
– Identification of suitable scientific journals for publication;
– Effective writing and design of scientific manuscripts;
– Submission of manuscripts and work with editorial requirements;
– Adequate perception of criticism and review;
– Overcoming the fear of an impostor and confidently promoting your scientific work;
– Reasons for rejecting manuscripts and ways to prevent them.
The students got acquainted with the main stages of the publication process, from choosing a journal and submitting a manuscript to interacting with editors and reviewers. Special attention was paid to how to effectively overcome the impostor syndrome and confidently start publishing in scientific publications.
In addition, the webinar addressed important aspects related to the ethics of scientific publications, such as avoiding plagiarism, correct citation and compliance with international publication standards. The participants learned about the importance of careful verification of their data and the need for transparency in research work.
Prospects for cooperation with foreign research teams were also discussed, which can significantly expand opportunities for publications and participation in international projects. Special attention was paid to how to properly approach the selection of co-authors and building scientific connections.
At the end of the webinar, all participants were given certificates confirming their participation and knowledge gained, which will be a valuable addition to their academic portfolio and an incentive for further scientific achievements.
